Ian MacLean-Evans is a doctoral student at York University in Toronto, Canada, where he researches early modern philosophy (especially Spinoza), and contemporary applications of early modern philosophy to social philosophy and philosophy of life. Ian also completed his Master’s of Arts degree in philosophy at Carleton University. His work has been published in the Journal of Spinoza Studies and the International Journal of Philosophical Studies.

Ian’s Master’s research was supported by the prestigious SSHRC Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship. Before his M.A., Ian completed a B.A. Hons in philosophy at the University of Ottawa, graduating magna cum laude.

Beyond his work on Spinoza, Ian maintains an interest in a variety of areas of philosophy, ranging from early modern philosophy generally, to formal logic, to critical theory.
